The race track continues to improve and was fast and racy but, for some

reason, there was an infestation of yellow flag fever throughout the night. It

started with the Midwest Modified main event, a 20 lap affair that saw the

winner start from the pole position. Dan Kingsley raced off to a big lead at

the start and was able to maintain it to the checkered flag but it wasn't easy as

five caution flags kept the local hot shoe from running away with the event.

Every time he would get away from the pack a spin or crash brought them

back to his bumper. Three caution flags slowed the action while trying to get

lap seven in the books and it gave the always dangerous Estey Brothers a

chance to close up. Kingsley kept his precarious hold on the top spot to the

checkered flag as Deven VanHouse scrambled in second holding off Mack

Estey in third and Skeeter Estey in fourth. Carey LePage battled with Jake

Gondik and took the fifth spot.

17 Super Stocks went for a 20 lap ride and matched the Midwest

Modifieds with five caution flags of their own then went one better tagging

on a sixth yellow flag near the end. Keith Kern started from the pole and led

early but a multi car crash in turn three reset the field. Scott Lawrence drove

to the high side and into the lead and a battle with Tyler Kintner. All the

caution flags kept Kintner within striking distance of Lawrence. All of the

caution periods happened in the first half of the race, the sixth happening at

the half way point. In the second half the protagonists were able to get down

to some seriously entertaining racing. Kintner kept the pressure on Lawrence

but a very fast Willie Johnsen arrived from the fourth row to harass Kintner

for second giving Lawrence time to pull away. Johnsen disposed of Kintner

and closed up on Lawrence's bumper but ran out of laps. First time visitor

Dexton Koch found the speedway to his liking as he advanced from ninth to

fourth. Nick Oreskovich was involved in the first caution flag and pitted to

change a tire. He was able to work his way forward from last place to finish

A smaller than usual contingent of Late Models, only ten. Nevertheless

they put on a good show. Kyle Peterlin jumped into the lead at the initial

green flag and threatened to make it a runaway but more yellow fever erased

his lead. Tim McMann battled with Peterlin on the restart but Peterlin was

able to prevail as McMann fell into the clutches of Darrell Nelson. Don Shaw

moved into fourth and the previous weeks' winner Harry Hanson ran fifth.

Shaw got by Nelson to third and closed on McMann for second. McMann, in

turn, was tracking down Peterlin and had moved to within three car lengths

when Scott Herrick hit the wall just off turn four bringing out another caution

flag. The restart came with four laps remaining, but the spinning was not over

as Trevor Wilson spun out. Shaw saw his chance on this restart and got by

Peterlin and went on for the win. Peterlin, Nelson, Hanson and McMann

rounded out the top five.

The Modified division again showed with the most cars and started all 23

in the 20 lap feature. Pat Cook led early on but Jody Bellefeuille showed

strength running the high side into the top spot. The first of four caution flags

appeared for sixteen year old first time visitor Landon Atkinson, an incident

that involved Kevin Eder and Darrell Nelson. The restart saw Bellefeuille

return to the high side ahead of Jeff Broking, Cook, Matt Leer and Rick

Rivord. Rivord was soon entangled in a skirmish with Nelson and Al

Uotinen. Bellefeuille and Broking raced way out ahead of the third place

battle but that lead diminished when the caution flag flew again for Atkinson

with seven laps complete. Bellefeuille was in charge at this point and drove

away from Broking on the restart. Nelson was in third ahead of Leer and

Cook. Bellefeuille was cruising way out front but Broking began to catch him

as Bellefeuille was in traffic. Yet another caution flag appeared for a spin in

turn two by 14 year old Jeffery Wood son of long time Modified racer Jeff

Wood. The caution flag put Broking and Nelson right up against

Bellefeuille's bumper. 21 cars were still in action at this point. On the restart

last weeks' winner Kelly Estey went into the wall high in turn two and Cook

was charged with the final caution flag of the event. Bellefeuille got a great

restart and continued on the high side to the checkered flag. Nelson, Broking,

Don Shaw and Leer finished in the top five. Al Uotinen continued his streak

of consecutive feature laps completed with a seventh place finish. The

number now stands a 850 consecutive feature laps completed the equivalent

of 41 feature events.

Dustin Follett continued his rampage in the Pure Stock division with his

third consecutive feature win at AMSOIL Speedway. A charge through the

field from his 11th starting spot ended when he ran off course and hit the

berm surrounding a track light pole. The car was undamaged and he started

the 14th lap from the rear. A couple more caution flags kept the race close and

it came down to a green/white/checkered shootout for the win in the 15 lap

affair that featured a four wide sprint off turn four to the white flag. Follett

burst out of the pack to take his third win ahead of Mike Sirois, Glenn

Dammer, Lucas Carlson and Josh Johnson.
